Singer Ha Sung-woon has been cast as the lead role of Romeo in the French musical 'Romeo and Juliet'. The production company said on the 29th, "We have newly cast Ha Sung-woon, an artist who has proven his outstanding vocal and performance abilities, as the lead 'Romeo'." Based on Shakespeare's classic, 'Romeo and Juliet' is set in Verona, Italy, scarred by long feuds and hatred, and depicts the passionate love and tragic end of two young people drawn together by fate beyond the bonds of their families. Ha plays Romeo, who pursues a pure and fervent love for Juliet of the Capulet family. The production company said Ha, who has shown a wide vocal spectrum through various OSTs and performances, will captivate audiences with his sweet, compelling voice and delicate emotional expression, while the creative team called him "an artist with diverse charms who can lead the story well." Ha was the main vocalist of HOTSHOT and project group Wanna One and debuted as a solo singer in 2019, also writing, composing and producing music. The production will feature 29 dancers and ensemble members. 'Romeo and Juliet' opens on December 1 at KEPCO Art Center in Seocho-dong, Seoul, with the first ticket sale on November 5 at 2 p.m. via NOL, YES24 and Ticketlink.
