[Exclusive report] BLACKPINK likely to receive '2026 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards' honor; ceremony on the 29th at National Theater of Korea, award grade unconfirmed

An exclusive report says group BLACKPINK is likely to receive an honor at the '2026 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards'. Tenasia reported on the 27th that, according to its own reporting, BLACKPINK has been confirmed as a likely recipient at this year's Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards. However, it said the specific grade of the award has not been confirmed. According to the report, the award is likely to be given to the group as a team, and the members are expected to each film and send acceptance speech videos, as their respective schedules make it difficult to attend the ceremony or even gather in one place. The Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards are government honors recognizing those who have contributed to the development of popular culture and arts and the spread of the Korean Wave, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency. The honors are divided into the Order of Cultural Merit, the Presidential Commendation, the Prime Minister's Commendation and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Commendation. This year's 17th ceremony will be held on the 29th at the Haeoreum Theater of the National Theater of Korea in Jung-gu, Seoul. BLACKPINK, which debuted in August 2016, marks its 10th anniversary this year, and in 2022 became the first K-pop girl group to reach No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart with its second full-length album 'BORN PINK'.
