Red Velvet's Joy (real name Park Soo-young) is returning to acting with the new drama 'The Unique Romance.' Based on a webtoon of the same name, the series (written by Jeon Hyun-mi and directed by Kim Jin-young) depicts a 'mutual fandom' romance between Gong Yu-il, an ordinary job seeker who unexpectedly becomes the manager of top star Tak Mu-i, and Tak, who hides the pain of being stalked. It is Joy's first project in a while since 'Once Upon a Small Town.' Joy plays Gong Yu-il, who once drew attention with the novel 'Byeoli and the Half Moon' but suddenly declared she would stop writing and devoted herself to job hunting. Kim Hyun-jin plays top star Tak Mu-i, an avid fan of the novel who boldly approaches Yu-il after learning her secret. The couple poster released together shows the two embracing while holding a bouquet of white roses, and the stills include their first meeting, in which Yu-il, working part-time at a convenience store, fails to recognize Tak in a cap and mask. 'The Unique Romance' will premiere on TVING on November 9 at 6 p.m., with advance exclusive releases on Viu in Asia, the Middle East and Africa and on ABEMA in Japan.
