BTS Wrap Two Sold-Out Bogotá Shows With 100,000 Fans: Jin Promises “We’ll Come Back,” Crowd Chants “Papacito!” at Jungkook; Three Sold-Out Lima Dates Follow Oct. 7, 9 and 10

BTS completed the first two shows of the South American leg of their ‘ARIRANG’ world tour on Oct. 2 and 3 (local time) at Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, Colombia. Both nights sold out, drawing more than 53,000 people per show and over 100,000 across the two days. They were the group’s first full-member concerts in Colombia. On the first night Jin said he had learned a little Spanish since it was his first time in Colombia and shouted the local phrase “Hágale pues,” drawing cheers. Colombian outlet El Heraldo reported that the members used local expressions such as “Parce,” “Qué chimba” and “Bacano.” Closing the second show on Oct. 3, Jin told fans in Korean that he would keep in his heart every moment they smiled, sang and cried to the songs, and promised, “We’ll come back. See you next time.” El Comercio ran a separate story under the headline “Vamos a volver.” The crowd’s reaction to Jungkook also drew attention. As he delivered his ending comments late in the show, the audience chanted “Papacito!”, a Spanish term used affectionately for a handsome, attractive man. Fan videos and posts spread online, and Jungkook’s name stayed near the top of global and Colombian real-time trends for hours after the concert, making him the most-trending K-pop soloist on social media after the group’s first South American show. The city of Bogotá ran separate traffic and safety measures for the concerts. Some 18.4% of all tickets were bought outside Colombia, and flight bookings to Bogotá during the concert period rose 46.6% from the same period last year. Bogotá’s tourism authority estimated the two shows would generate more than 99 billion Colombian pesos in economic impact, including lodging, transport, food and shopping. BTS now move to Lima, Peru, for three shows at Estadio San Marcos on Oct. 7, 9 and 10, all of which are sold out. The South American leg covers 14 shows in five cities: Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo.
