HYBE announced on the 1st that BTS has become the first pop group in history to surpass $500 million (about 680 billion won) in cumulative world tour revenue. According to the latest Boxscore figures released by Billboard on September 30 (local time), ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG’, which launched in Goyang, Korea, in April, has passed the $500 million mark. Fewer than 20 single tours in Billboard Boxscore history have grossed over $500 million, and BTS is only the seventh group to do so. The six groups before them were all rock bands such as The Rolling Stones and Coldplay, making BTS the only pop group to reach the milestone. With 12 shows in August, BTS grossed $171.7 million (about 230 billion won) and drew about 800,000 fans, topping the Top Tours chart. That is the second-highest monthly gross in Boxscore history after Beyoncé’s $179.3 million in August 2023, and marks BTS’s fifth Top Tours No. 1. All 12 stadium shows across six North American cities sold out, and the two concerts at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey alone earned $32.7 million (about 44.4 billion won) from 158,000 attendees. Billboard noted that about 40 more shows remain in major cities worldwide and projected the tour’s final gross to approach $1 billion (about 1.36 trillion won).
