Singer MINZY (Gong Min-ji), formerly of 2NE1, has returned as a soloist for the first time in 4 years and 9 months. At 6 p.m. on the 28th, MINZY released her new single 'CALLING' on music sites and unveiled the music video for the title track. She took part in producing, writing and composing the release herself. The new single contains three tracks: Korean and English versions of the title song 'CALLING' and the B-side 'We Almost Were'. 'CALLING' blends a soulful R&B sound with a rich choir and sings of facing the self once lost in darkness again and rising up by following an inner call. Its point choreography incorporates the sign-language gesture meaning 'I can hear'. The B-side 'We Almost Were' is an R&B song with rock elements that talks about a relationship and possibility that seemed about to come true but never did. Guitarist JinJoo Lee of American pop band DNCE played guitar on the track. MINZY, who debuted as a member of 2NE1 in 2009, has balanced group and solo activities. Following her recent reunion activities with the full 2NE1 lineup that brought her back to global fans, she has begun a new chapter as a solo artist with this single.
