BLACKPINK's LISA lifted the Best Pop trophy at the '2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs)', becoming the first Asian solo artist to do so. At the ceremony held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on the 27th (local time), LISA won Best Pop, one of the major categories, with 'Dream' featuring Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi, beating Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter, among others. This is the second time a K-pop act has won the category, after BTS in 2020, and LISA is the first K-pop solo artist to take it. It is also the first win by an Asian solo singer. Walking onstage with a surprised expression when her name was called, LISA said in tears, "Thank you for this amazing award," and "Thank you to everyone who helped make this song and for the inspiration." LISA was nominated in four categories at this year's VMAs, including Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Cinematography and Best Editing, the most of any K-pop artist. At the same ceremony, BTS won three awards including Song of the Year for 'SWIM', and Madonna took seven categories including Artist of the Year.
