SEVENTEEN member Jun will release all tracks and the title-track music video of his first Chinese EP '9' worldwide at 11 a.m. on the 28th. His agency, Pledis Entertainment, announced this on the 27th. '9' was inspired by the Chinese folk legend 'Nine-Lives Cat Demon', in which a cat that earns nine tails through spiritual training gains eternal life. The album follows a journey of experiencing and accepting unfamiliar emotions one by one to complete one's true 'self'. Jun, who has worked on solo songs such as 'Gemini', 'PSYCHO' and 'LIMBO', took part in writing the lyrics for the title track and other songs on this album, expressing in his own words emotions that move from curiosity and excitement through anticipation, jealousy and doubt, and weariness to forgiveness. A total of eight trailers released ahead of the album portrayed Jun's shifting emotions as he encounters a new world through sound and visuals, and the fourth trailer 'Conquer' and final trailer 'Inward' included snippets of the new songs. The album's key object, 'The Alter of NINE', was also unveiled. “'9' is an album filled with a variety of new attempts,” Jun said. “I want to show the fans who have watched over me how much I've grown. For those hearing my music for the first time, I also have a small ambition to make a clear impression as 'singer Jun'.”
