NCT DREAM member Jaemin gifted fans with 30 gift cards worth 100,000 won each from Shinsegae Mobile on White Day (March 14), totaling 3 million won. The gift cards were released in barcode image form and could be used on a first-come, first-served basis. However, controversy erupted when a significant number of cards were used before the store's 10 a.m. opening on March 15. Notably, records of multiple card uses were confirmed at the E-mart Gumi branch in North Gyeongbuk province, sparking suspicions on online communities and social media that store staff exchanged the cards before opening. Subsequently, a post appeared claiming to be from the actual card user, stating nine cards were exchanged with an acquaintance, though its authenticity remains disputed online. E-mart announced on March 16 that it is conducting an internal investigation to clarify the exact circumstances and will review necessary follow-up measures based on the results. The company also stated plans to strengthen gift card issuance and exchange management standards to prevent similar incidents. After the controversy, Jaemin sent additional gift cards to some fans as damage control, though concerns have been raised about the potential misuse of first-come, first-served events through barcode disclosure methods.
