Minho of K-pop group SHINee (legal name Choi Min-ho) has been appointed as the seventh promotional ambassador for the Korean War remains recovery project. The Ministry of National Defense Remains Excavation and Identification Unit held an appointment ceremony in February at the National Seoul Hyeonjungwon in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the launch of second-half 2026 remains excavation operations. Prior to the ceremony, Minho visited the Unit's identification center to learn about the status and significance of the remains recovery project, and paid respects at the Memorial Tower and Hall of the Unknown Soldier at Seoul National Cemetery. Going forward, Minho will participate in major events of the Unit and contribute by allowing his image to be used in official posters and promotional materials to help promote the remains recovery policy. The Unit praised Minho, stating that "with his consistently positive energy, he exerts a good influence on younger generations, and particularly demonstrated strong responsibility by volunteering for the Marine Corps and even forgoing his final leave before discharge to participate in homeland defense training."
