Culture Minister Choi Hee-young announced on the 5th at the launch ceremony of the 'Task Force to Prevent Ticket Scalping for Performances and Sports' held at the Seoul National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Jongno-gu, Seoul, that BTS concerts serve as an important test case for combating ticket scalping. Minister Choi emphasized that concentrated management is necessary for ticket scalping issues, as BTS concerts represent Korean popular music's biggest global events. The newly established public-private task force comprises government agencies, concert organizers, and ticket sales companies aiming to prevent illegal ticket resales for performances and sports events. The task force plans to implement comprehensive response strategies including monitoring scalping markets, identifying illegal transactions, and developing consumer protection measures. BTS's global fanbase and high ticket demand make it particularly susceptible to scalping markets. The government aims to establish a systematic management framework through this task force to prevent fan damages from illegal ticket trading and promote a healthy concert culture.
