Military service by male idol groups has long been viewed as a crisis in K-pop that could diminish group recognition and influence. However, recent idols are turning this 'military hiatus' into an opportunity for growth. BTS exemplified this trend by fulfilling their military obligations despite enjoying global stardom—they won four awards at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards and visited the White House before entering service. The members enlisted sequentially beginning with Jin in December 2022, followed by J-Hope, Suga, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook. Remarkably, they excelled during service, earning accolades such as drill instructor positions, military police commendations, and elite trainee awards. Jimin notably donated 100 million won to support soldiers and their families. Other groups like ONF have also chosen simultaneous enlistment for all Korean members, demonstrating commitment to their duties. These 'military-service-complete idols' showcase K-pop's cultural maturity and are establishing a new trend of maintaining global popularity after discharge.
