ALPHA DRIVE ONE's Gunwoo faces character controversy, agency announces legal action

Wakewon, the agency of K-pop group ALPHA DRIVE ONE, announced on the 20th that it is proceeding with legal action regarding character controversy surrounding member Kim Gunwoo. Through an official statement, Wakewon stated that it is taking legal procedures to protect the human rights and honor of its artists and has been closely monitoring the situation of indiscriminate defamation and false rumors spreading on domestic and international online communities and social media. Kim Gunwoo first became embroiled in a character controversy during his appearance on Mnet's 'Boys 2 Planet' in July 2025. At that time, an alleged whistleblower claimed that Kim Gunwoo, during his trainee days at the same agency, relied on favoritism from high-ranking executives and frequently used abusive language toward other trainees. In response, Kim Gunwoo released a statement of apology, acknowledging that his words and actions hurt many people. However, rumors resurfaced shortly before and after the Lunar New Year holiday with new accusatory posts targeting Kim Gunwoo, leading the agency to decide on legal action. Wakewon expressed in their statement that defamatory posts including appearance-related insults and groundless false facts have caused deep wounds not only to the artist but also to fans, urging people to refrain from crossing the line.
