Epik High and IVE Explore Generational Differences Through Contrasting Mindsets

Hip-hop group Epik High released a new YouTube content exploring generational differences with girl group IVE on the 19th. Through their official YouTube channel 'EPIKASE', they unveiled a new episode titled 'Epik-style Thinking vs IVE-style Thinking.' Epik High mentioned that this was the first time they had invited so many guests and the first appearance of a girl group on their channel. When it was revealed that IVE's youngest member Leeseo's mother was born in 1980, the same generation as Tablo, the members couldn't hide their surprise, creating a moment that vividly illustrated the real generational gap. The conversation began by discussing what each generation considers 'old songs.' While Epik High defined songs from Arirang to Yoo Jae-ha and Byun Jin-sub as 'real old songs,' IVE unexpectedly shifted the mood by referring to Epik High's songs as 'old songs.' Particularly, Leeseo, born in 2007, seriously asked, 'Is the song older than me? Should I call it oppa?' upon learning that Epik High's hit 'Love Love Love' was released in January 2007, making everyone burst into laughter. This exchange exemplified the contrasting generational characteristics, similar to the lucky Vicky Wonyoung-style positive mindset versus the survival-mode Tukutz-style mindset, showcasing how the two groups explored their different perspectives in an entertaining manner.
