PLAVE Leads Virtual Idol Market Through Advanced Technology and Mega IP

PLAVE, a five-member virtual idol group that debuted in 2023, is rapidly growing in the K-pop market with its own songwriting, composition, and producing capabilities. The group made history as the first virtual idol to enter Gocheok Sky Dome last year and will launch its world tour at the Incheon Munhak Baseball Stadium on September 12-13. DSC Investment cited BLAST's differentiated technological capabilities as the investment background. BLAST independently developed Korea's highest-level virtual live solution, establishing a virtual studio with approximately 10 cameras operating simultaneously based on optical motion capture systems, enabling real-time broadcasting. The company combines high-quality graphics implementation using Unreal Engine with Korea's accumulated music production expertise and broadcast production know-how. BLAST's revenue surged from 750 million won in 2022 to 12.2 billion won in 2023, with 45.4 billion won expected in 2024 and 85.5 billion won in 2025. Virtual content, previously considered subculture, is becoming mainstream as OTT and YouTube platforms lower entry barriers. Industry experts forecast that companies finding convergence points between advanced technologies like AI, semiconductors, communications, and displays with mega IPs will gain significant growth opportunities.
