The global music concert industry is experiencing a 'Blue Dot Crisis,' where unsold seats marked in blue on Ticketmaster seating charts indicate declining ticket sales. Major artists including Pussycat Dolls, Post Malone, and Meghan Trainor are canceling or reducing their tours due to economic pressures on fans. Average concert ticket prices have risen 37% over five years, reaching $144 (approximately 220,000 won) in the US in 2025, coupled with increased production costs for elaborate stage shows. BTS, however, demonstrates the opposite trend. The group's stadium world tour 'ARIRANG,' launched in April, achieved sold-out status for all North American and European performances, expanding from the planned 79 shows to 88 total dates. According to Billboard, just eight performances in April (held in Seoul, Tokyo, and Tampa) generated $76.2 million in revenue and sold 417,000 tickets, ranking BTS first in monthly 'Top Tours.' The three Tampa shows set global single-venue records for highest revenue and largest audience in April. Industry experts attribute BTS's success to the unwavering unity of their fanbase 'ARMY,' which remained strong even during members' military service, combined with a differentiated concert experience.
