Nam Woo-hyun, a member of INFINITE and actor, makes his official film debut in the Korean-Philippine co-production 'Abduction 48 Hours,' which opens domestically on the 17th with a September Philippine release. The film is an action-crime thriller about Mi-jin (Park Eun-hye), a successful businesswoman in the Philippines who is kidnapped by a Korean crime organization over gambling debts, and her son Do-jun (Nam Woo-hyun), who dreams of becoming a taekwondo national representative, attempting a rescue mission. Han Jae-seok plays the crime boss leader, and director Jung Jang-hwan directs. Korean production companies Will Studio and GV Labs collaborated with Philippine production company Parallux Studio. The Philippine distribution is handled by Viva Group, a major Filipino entertainment conglomerate. The Korean film industry is exploring co-productions with Southeast Asian countries to reduce production costs and expand export markets amid domestic investment downturn, with this collaboration diversifying partnerships beyond Vietnam.
