KT Deploys BTS Concert-Tested Technology for World Cup Street Support

KT is deploying an AI-based network control system called 'W-SDN (Wireless Software Defined Network)' that was verified during BTS concerts to support the World Cup street rally held at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square. At a press conference on the 11th, KT announced it anticipates traffic increases of more than 5 times normal levels in the Gwanghwamun area and has implemented a separate response system including the deployment of two additional mobile base stations. W-SDN is an intelligent network management system that integrates wireless network operating systems from different manufacturers into a single platform, with AI analyzing base station statistics and number of connected terminals in real-time to predict overloads and automatically distribute traffic. KT verified the system's effectiveness during a BTS concert in March and Liverpool Legends match at Sangam World Cup Stadium. Mobile base stations deployed near Gwanghwamun Square and the National Museum of Korean History feature 5G antennas on their roofs and contain LTE communication equipment and generators inside, enabling independent communication service provision even when external power supply is difficult.
